Reflection: Yeh Yu Chun

I leart more about Qin ShiHuang. I felt that Qin shihuang is a good leader because he build The Great wall of china to prtect the people and only kill people who don't obey he's rule.

This project is really interesting and i get to understand more about Qin Shihuang and clear all my misunderstandings. We all did quite a fairbit of work but Qiu Man actually helped us search and summarize all the information for us without even asking her to do it! I am really grateful to Qiu Man who sacrificed lots of time just for this project. HOPE U ENJOY VIEWING OUR BLOG:D Please give us any comments on how to improve on it.. :D

It was quite fun researching the information on the internet. Though some of my teammates did not do work, we managed to finish the Blog. And I spilled Milo over the hard copies. So I had to reprint that! Pity... 
I feel that by doing the work together, we are more closer than before! And, though it took some of my precious March Holiday, I go out after the few meetings to relax. So, actually, It's fine.

Conclusion: Is Qin Shi Huang a good leader?

With the information we have, we can say that Qin Shi Huang IS a good leader. We believe that Qin Shi Huang was only harsh to those who did not follow his rules.

Comparison: Good & bad deeds Qin Shi Huang did

The good deeds Qin Shi Huang had done is:


  • He standardized the currency, writing system, and the measurements.
  • He built the Great Wall of China
  • He created a sense of unity to the people when he formed the unitary system of government
The bad deeds Qin Shi Huang had done is:

  • He killed people who did not follow his rules.
  • He burnt Confucius's books (most of them) as it opposed his rules.

The Great Wall Of China

It is known as one of the 7th wonders of the world. This wonder is built by Qin Shi Huang. The Great Wall Of China crosses the Qin, Han, and Ming dynasty.

What are the bad deeds Qin Shi Huang did?

Qin Shi Huang forced labor. He made many unnecessary punishment. He also burnt the scholars books and killed some scholars too. He killed all people who made his tomb so that the secret of his death would not be revealed. He banned Confucius because it opposed his harsh rules. Therefore, he burnt most of Confucius's books. He would kill whoever who were found hiding them.

How did Qin Shi huang rule China?


He gave strict laws and punishment so that people will follow the laws and commands of Qin Shi Huang's. Qin Shihuang practiced autocracy, imposing harsh laws and severe punishments and heavy levies and corves upon his people. Moreover, he levied war year after year and thus, caused untold sufferings to the people.

What did he do as a leader of China?

Qin Shi Huang brought China under a unitary system of government. By doing so, it had created a sense of unity amongst the people. He standardized the currency, measurements and Chinese writings. He controlled all of the lands which were still under the power of feudal Shi. With 36 provinces divided, each is under the direct control of Qin Shi Huang. This system of government continued for the next 2200 years.

His character and personality

He is a strict and cruel ruler, showing no one any mercy. If someone were to break the law, the person would be killed, including his whole family. Because many people were at angry at Qin Shi Huang, they tried to overthrow him when he died. And soon, the Qin dynasty was replaced. Qin Shi Huang also feared death. So, he sent hundreds of women and men to sea to find a magician who had invited him there at Penglai Mountains.

Who is Qin Shi Huang?

Qin Shi Huang, whose personal name is called Yingzheng, was born in Hanan. When he was thirteen, he took over his father’s position as a king when his father, King Zhuangxiang, died. Qin Shi Huang then ruled China from 246 B.C. to 210 B.C. (He was just 49 years of age when he died in 210 B.C.) . He was aggressive and ambitious at an early age.  He was known as the first emperor to unite China in 221 B.C. .
